Orkut was launched by Google in the year 2004 and It has been a major hit in Brazil and India. Yes! Event though It’s an USA product it was not popular in USA. On September 30, 2014, Orkut will be officially shut down. However until September 2016 users can transfer their data using Google Takeout.
Orkut started to drop their rankings after the launching of Facebook. If you want to see how Orkur looks like before it shut down, well sadly now the registrations are completely stopped. So there will be no way to find out unless peeking your friend’s Orkut accounts.
Google says that as YouTube, Blogger and Google+ have taken off (though some people may argue about the success of Google+), “the growth of these communities has outpaced Orkut’s growth.” Google says it wants to focus its “energy and resources on making these other social platforms as amazing as possible for everyone who uses them.”
